Halepa Chania

The district of Halepa is located east of the city of Chania. It began its development in the middle of the 19th century while it became known in the history of Crete with the “Treaty of Halepa” between Ottoman Cretans and which had as its content the concession of this limited state to the island.

Halepa is also known because it is the place chosen to live by Eleftherios Venizelos, the most important political figure of the previous century who played a decisive role in the new history of Greece as prime minister (1910).

It is one of the nicest and most prestigious districts of Chania, a stone’s throw from the city and the sea.
